Mangalore, Dec 23: The policemen of the city have achieved a major success by arresting one of the assassins of Vamanjoor Rohi, on December 22. The arrest was made by the special intelligence squad of the superintendent of police. Rohi had been murdered on July 4 this year.

It is said that Murugesh, an old time associate of Rohi, killed his own mentor as per the instructions of the alleged underworld criminals, Vishwanath Koraga Shetty, Nikhil Shetty and Bhaskar.

The other accomplices to the murder, Sampat Bhandary (30) from Urundadigudde, Dhanraj Poojary (26) from Radhakripa Compound, Kottara Kalbavi Nagar, Santosh Kottary (23) from Jyotinagar and Krishnappa Salian (59) had been arrested by the policemen within a few days of the murder.

It is said that Shalini, sister-in-law of Krishnappa Salian, in whose home Rohi had sheltered, had mixed sleeping pills with the food served to Rohi, as per a pre-planned conspiracy. After she conveyed to the others that Rohi was in deep sleep, a gang of seven men came in a car and motor bike, with two revolvers, swords etc., and hacked Rohi to death.

Krishnappa Salian had later admitted the critically injured Rohi into a hospital, where he breathed his last.
