16 new coronavirus cases raise Karnataka tally to 443


Bengaluru, Apr 23 (IANS): Karnataka registered 16 new coronavirus positive cases, raising the state's tally to 443, said an official on Thursday.

"Till date, 443 COVID-19 positive cases have been confirmed. This includes 17 deaths and 141 discharges," said a health official.

In the past 19 hours, discharges rose by 10 from 131 to 141.

Among the 16 new cases, 11 are men and five are women.

Incidentally, 15 of the new cases are contacts of earlier cases.

Nine men who were contacts of 419th case tested positive for the virus in Bengaluru Urban.

Of the new cases, Bengaluru Urban accounted for nine, followed by Vijayapura, Mandya and Hubli, Dharwad (2 each) and Bantwala, Dakshina Kannada (1 each).

    Dear Chief Minister...Matter is getting complicated. Please extend upto june 23. Seal of all wine shops and liquor bars. Give strict instruction not to venture anybody near sealed establishments.

    Why are you behind wine shops? Is there any relationship established between opening wineshops and increase in corona cases? Infact kepibg the wine shops will contribute some money to govt in the form of excise duty. Currently major corona affected states are undergoing financial crisis. If worried about social distancing in wine shops, liquor can be sold only for consumption at home ..
