Mangaluru: Wakf Board asks Muslims to confine Ramzan observations to homes

Mangaluru, Apr 24: On account of precautionary measures in force to regulate spread of coronavirus infection, the state Wakf Board as well as the state government have asked the people to confine Ramzan-related customs and observations to their homes.

Dakshina Kannada district Wakf Advisory Committee has asked the people not to hold Iftar parties, mass namaz, Taraweeh Namaz and Friday Jumma namaz etc at the mosques but to confine them to their homes. It has noted that the Muazzin who gives call for namaz or Pesh Imam, and staff at the respective mosques alone can perform namaz inside the mosque. The people have also been asked not to hold namaz by inviting other people including neighbours at their homes.

In a plea signed by advocate Nooruddin Salmara, member of Dakshina Kannada Wakf Advisory Committee has sought cooperation as before from the people in maintaining social distance by following the orders of the government, Wakf Board and district administration by following their instructions and also to cooperate with the health and police departments.
