Mangaluru, Apr 25: Officers of Mangaluru Central GST, Customs, DGGI, DRI, Audit, SEZ and retired officers of CBIC has taken up the task of helping the needy and poor in and around Mangaluru by pooling in voluntary contributions made and being made in their individual capacity. As part of social responsibility and COVID-19 relief activities, team Mangaluru has undertaken dry ration distribution drive to poor people and PPE kit donations to hospitals till date.

On Saturday, April 25, a team of officers from Central GST and Customs reached Jokotte near Thokur Railway station in Baikampady and distributed dry ration kits sufficient for around 15 days. Kits containing 5kg/10kg rice bags, dal, onions, potatoes, cooking oil, sugar, tamarind, two cotton face masks and a soap were rationed to 175 migrant labourers living in camps.

A list of all families living in camps have been prepared and the bags were handed over to the representative of a family unit by maintaining social distance. The officers also underlined the importance of wearing face masks outdoors and explained people how to use the reusable cotton mask.
