Bhatkal, Apr 25: In an incident that occurred in the town, a woman delivered baby in an auto rickshaw, as her family’s repeated calls for ambulance did not receive quick response. This is the second incident of such nature in this town since lockdown was implemented in the country.

Razmiya (24), wife of Ibrahim Khalil Hader Sab, resident of Arshiya colony, Heble, Jamia Abad Road is the lady who was delivered the baby in the auto-rickshaw allegedly due to the apathy of the administration.

The family members of the woman called the ambulance three hours before the time of delivery. The concerned health professional took all the details of the lady including address and said that the ambulance will arrive at their place shortly. However, even after waiting for three hours the ambulance did not turn up.

The family called for an auto rickshaw. The person denied taking the woman citing lockdown as reason and he does not carry a pass. Later, one auto rickshaw driver agreed to take the woman to the hospital, though he was not having a pass. The woman delivered the baby right inside the auto-rickshaw after it entered the hospital compound. 

Both mother and child are healthy. This is the second incident of this kind in the town that has happened due to apathy of administration. In the first case, a woman had to deliver the baby at home after repeated calls for ambulance went unanswered. The baby and the mother were then shifted in an ambulance to a private hospital.
