Shimla, Apr 29 (IANS): A massive fire in a village in Himachal Pradesh's Shimla district on Wednesday gutted at least seven wooden houses and property worth lakhs of rupees, officials said.
The fire reportedly broke out when the occupants were asleep in Shishtwari village in Chirgaon in Rohru area. One person is missing, while two were injured in the incident.
Rescuers reached the spot, 140 km from the state capital, and evacuated the villagers. The cause of the fire is not yet known. This is the third incident of fire in four days in the area.
On April 26, at least 12 houses were gutted in a fire in Dugyana village in which an elderly woman was burnt alive. On April 27, a fire was reported in the market of Chirgaon.
