Central govt employees to install 'Aarogya Setu' app, report to work when safe

New Delhi, Apr 29: Central government employees across the country were directed to immediately download the 'Aarogya Setu' mobile application on Wednesday, April 29. The personnel ministry ordered an issue stating the employees could check the application and report to work if the status for commuting indicated safe.

The ministry said, "Before starting for office, they must review the status on 'Aarogya Setu' and commute only when the app shows safe or low-risk status."

If the application showed moderate or high risk, the officers are asked to avoid reporting for work and self-isolate for 14 days and report to work only once the status changes to safe or low risk, the ministry stated.

The ministry issued an order stating that all the officers and staff working under the central government must download the application compulsorily and immediately in their mobile phones.

The application developed by the government indicates the status of the locality and gauges the chances of contracting the disease.

In order to ensure all the instructions are strictly followed, a senior officer or joint secretary would monitor the same. "Ministries/departments may issue similar instructions to all autonomous, statutory bodies, PSUs attached to them." the order said.

Following the government instructions, officers of the level of deputy secretary and above have already returned to work.

All the central government departments are directed to ask only one-third of the employees to report to work below the secretary level on a rotational basis.
