Vijayan cautions media against fake news

Thiruvananthapuram, Apr 29 (IANS): Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, here on Wednesday, cautioned the media in the state not to air fake news.

Vijayan was addressing the media after chairing the daily Covid-19 review meeting.

"It has come to our notice that there are some wrong news in the media about a community spread in the state. This is not true. The media has to ensure the veracity of the news. From now on strict action would be taken against fake news," said Vijayan.

The Vijayan government has set up a fake news detection unit to curb such items.
