COVID-19: Punjab Police officer's son to get compassionate job


Chandigarh, Apr 29 (IANS): Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh has approved the appointment of the younger son of Assistant Commissioner of Police Anil Kohli, who died of COVID-19, as police Sub-Inspector once he graduates.

During his videoconference meeting with 687 frontline field officers and personnel on Wednesday, Director General of Police Dinkar Gupta said the conditional offer of appointment of Kohli's son Paras has been accepted.

The Chief Minister has been supportive of the health and welfare of the police personnel working on the corona frontline, said the DGP, adding the state government and Punjab Police remained committed to their welfare.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Kohli, who was posted in Ludhiana city, succumbed to coronavirus on April 18.

The 52-year-old officer had tested positive on April 13.
