MP legislator's relatives test positive for Covid-19


Burhanpur (Madhya Pradesh), May 5 (IANS): Several family members of Surendra Singh Shera, Independent MLA from Madhya Pradesh's Burhanpur, have tested positive for Coronavirus. The MLA's brother, daughter-in-law, nephew, and one-and-a-half-year-old grandson have been infected.

An earlier report last month had found 17 persons including Shera's brother had tested positive and this had rattled the administration. Health Department conducted an exhaustive examination in the containment area, and 116 samples were sent for testing. Of these, 57 including of Shera tested negative.

On Monday, 17 tested positive while the results of the rest are still awaited. The 17 include member of the MLA's relatives, the Health Department reported on Tuesday.

Health officials are now checking the family's travel history. In the Central government's list, the district has so far been placed in the orange zone. With positive cases crossing 40 on Tuesday, the district may slip into the red zone.
