Mangalore, Jan 5: With Member of Parliament Nalin Kumar Kateel’s surpise visit to the District Wenlock Hospital, the citizens are renewed with the fulfillment of the long demand for clean government hospital. On his visit the MP has come down heavily on the medical officer and asked him to stop the payment of bills to contractor until the cleaning work is accomplished.

Nalin Kumar asked for explanation on the garbage stored at several places inside the hospital and about the pending cleaning works. He directed the district medical officer Dr Prabhudeva to take immediate action to clean the floor and walls and also discharge waste water collected in the vicinity.

Nalin Kumar also ordered suspension of the staff nurses, who are on supervisory jobs. However, DMO defended the staff saying that severe shortage of staff in the hospital is affecting the routine as well as in taking good care of the patients.

Meanwhile, after visiting a ward in the hospital, wherein he found few patients not discharged for a long time now for they had no caretakers if discharged, Nalin Kumar said that arrangements need to be done to send them to home for destitute so that the beds in the hospital may be used to accommodate other needy patients.

MP was accompanied by party leaders and local corporators.

Mr nalin Kumar saw only the cleanliness , i think he didnt ask the nurses and doctors their problems when there are 40-50 patients in each ward and regarding the availablility of the day to day things which are required for patient care , doesnt he need to on this ? and make sure that they are available to the poor patients ?

This is only a publicity stunt by NalinKumar. Krishna palimar does this all the time. He will abuse officers and order their transfers in front of the public but the next day things will be the same. Can Daiji report exactly after one month what are the changes that have happened after nalins's visit?.

Well done Mr. Nalin Kumar. You can change the image of BJP and the image of selfish politicians. Poor people keep their hopes on their leaders, but, the leaders neglect them once they are elected. However, you have proved it otherwise. Keep up the good work & you will be blessed not only by the poor and destitutes, but, also by almighty God. Serve the people, win the confidence of people & be a successful leader !! All the best dear MP.

THE SNAPS SHOWS OUR DISTRICT GOVT WENLOCK HOSPITAL NEED SOME KIND OF CLEANING! IS THERE NO PERIODICAL CHECK BY HYGIENE & ENVOIRNMENTAL HEALTH OFFICIALS!? IF A DISTRICT GOVT HOSPITAL NOT KEEPS IT'S HYGIENE STANDARD,THEN HOW CAN WE EXPECT FROM OTHER GOVT HOSPITALS?MR MP I AM NOT OBJECTING YOUR VISIT BUT STILL IT'S STATE SUBJECT AND YOUR CONTRIBUTION IN THE ALROUND DEVOLOPMENT OF DK BY FOCUSING MORE SERIOUS SUBJECT LIKE RAIL,AIR TRANSPORT,INDUSTRY,NATIONAL HIGHWAYS,RURAL DEVELOPMENT ECT ECT WILL BRING MORE DEVOLOPEMENT PROJECTS TO MANGALORE.

Daijiworld, very good pictures of the reality. Visiting the hospital is a good idea. There are several and serious issues involved. Ordering "suspension of the staff nurses" is not the job of a MP. Has he discussed other issues related to the improvement of existing facilities? We need more educated people to be our leaders, who can create and share their vision for the region. If we have Mps who have been elected on the basis of sensational religious issues what more can you expect? They will do and say things that they are authorized to do. May be our MPs think they are above everyone.

This is just one example of misuse of public money. The contractor may have received payments right in time but for works that are not done. Will a labour get his wage if he did not carry out the work assigned to him ? Keeping patients in the hospitals just because they have nobody to care for is total misuse of public facility. Is the hospital a orphanage ? Where will be new patients be admitted ? Turned away for non-availability of beds ? There must be inside hand for keeping the old patients - they must be charging day-rate. There need to be one more system in place - electronic in/out of doctors, nurses and all other staff getting paid by the hospital. If checked regularly, there will be staff taking salary for coming inside once a month to show that he/she is alive. Its indeed nice of Mr. Kateel to have visited the Hospital. More visits to public facilities will reset our system.

Nalin Kumar you should give such surprise visits to different Govt. Departments, take action on those who are inefficient & bring innovative reforms to the age old British system. At Wenlock they had not cleared those dumps including rusted machineries, cots, equipments & waste packets inside the hospital compound for ages.

Atleast someone got time to visit these people who are in real need of attention, good job Mr. Nalin Kumar. I hope this will not be the last visit and someone from his office will followup or another visit after 2 weeks also be a good idea. Only being enthusiastic will not help following up this enthusiasm is very important.
