Lucknow, May 8 (IANS): A migrant couple from Chhattisgarh was run over by a vehicle on Shaheed Path in Lucknow while they were cycling their way to their home state.
Their two children, both less than five years old, survived the crash in which the couple was killed.
The couple was stranded in Lucknow due to the lockdown and had began their return journey to their village on a bicycle on Thursday when the mishap took place.
According to DCP East, Somen Barma, Krishna Sahu, 45, his wife Pramila,40, and their children were hit by a speeding vehicle. The couple was rushed to a local hospital where they were declared brought dead.
Their children's custody has been handed over to Krishna's brother, Rajkumar, but reports suggest that they are still in the hospital.
Krishna used to work as a labourer in Lucknow though it is unclear how long he had been in the city before deciding to return home. The police are still looking for the vehicle and the driver that ran over the couple.
