Moodbidri: Second Day of ‘Alva’s Virasat-2010’ Sees Musical ‘Jugalbandhi’, Odissi Dance

Moodbidri, Jan 7: The second day of ‘Alva’s Virasat-2010’, on Thursday January 7, saw the ‘Jugalbandhi’ of saxophone and flute and an Odissi dance performance which left the audience marveling at the artistes’ talent.
Renowned saxophonist Kalaimamani Kadri Gopalnath and popular flutist Suramani Praveen Godkindi thrilled the audience with their combined music recital.
The accompaniments were by Anoor Anantha Sharma on ‘Mridangam’, Arun Kumar on drums, Rajendra Nakod on ‘Tabla’, U Umesh on keyboard, and B Rajendra on ‘Morsing’.
Classical Odissi dance by Sharmila Biswas and team was the second progamme on the Virasat stage.
Biswas, from Kolkata, is a disciple of renowned Odissi dance guru Kelucharan Mohapatra.
Her team of nearly 25, along with musicians, performed various dances in the classical Odissi style.
This rare opportunity of watching the Odissi style of dance in Dakshina Kannada got a good response from the audience gathered at Shobavana at Mijar where the specially-decorated stage for Virasat is situated.
