Congratulations Milagres Church on your Centinary Celebrations. Kudos to all those organised these celebrations. I really enjoyed going thru all the pictures of the cebrations. During my younger days I was told that part of Milagres Church was demolished by the late Tippu Sultan and later the Church was restored to its origninal condition. I always enjoy visiting Milagres Church and will do so during my future visits to Mangalore. God Bless.

Dear Milagreans... I rememeber we celebrated Milagres Church Tri-Centenary celebrations (375 years) and then I was studying in Milagres School around 1985-1990 period (dont remember exactly).. I dont understand, how come we have centenary celebrations now after celebrating 375 years 15 years back!! Can anyone from church please explain.. The Original church was built when we had Portugese settlers, which then was destructed by Tippu Sultan team.. I am proud to know that milagres is 400 years old than 100 years old...I agree with my fellow reader that, it is the PARISH that matters and not the building.

What century? Milagrese parish is nearly four hundred years old. By saying that it is 100 yeras old we are undermining its antiquity and the history of Christianity in South Kanara. What is 100 years IS THE BUILDING and building does not make a Church but it is the people.

However the good activities of the Church on this occasion is commendable although I have feeling the philanthropic activities need to be more frequent and more in numbers. Milagrese is a rich parish able to adopt so many causes of the lesser fortunate churches because when you say it is the parent parish, parent is supposed to look after the children. It is high time that the church pays back what is taken from the people because that is where it belongs to.

I am extremely happy to see Mr.Walter Nandalike the natural leader of the Mangalorean Catholics worldwide – accorded a place of honour in my home parish the Milagres Church during the commencement of the Centenary Celebrations. I am sure his bold and outspoken leadership which was well demonstrated during the infamous church attacks of September 2008 will go a long way in uniting the faithful of the parish and fearlessly face any further challenges the Milagres Church may have to face in the near future. WELCOME HOME WALTYBAAB…….we offer you the symbolic traditional “Plate of Kasryechen Paan ani Udak in a Golden Plate and Golden Chemboo”……and hope your stay will be a long and happy one!!!! If Waltybaab has indeed taken up residence within the Milagrea Parish, I bet it is a great feather in the cap of yet another Waltybaab……Manadhik Walty Baab-the Parish Priest. God Bless the both of you. I will compose and record a very special song to mark this great "Waltybaab's homecoming" in my next Musical Album which I may be launching around the yearend with great pomp and glory,,,,,,,

I join many well wishers in congratulating Our Parish Priest, Father Walter D'Mello in organizing the centenary celebrations in a fitting manner. The program is aimed at helping the needy and this is a step in the right direction. Recognizing people for their acomplishemnts is a source of encouragement and I am glad that this area is taken care of. Daijiworld has come into limelight for some time now and it is good to see that the readership profile is extremely good with about 2,00,000 people viewing the cite. Congrats to all concerned for accomplishing a mission and specially kudos to the Chief Editor Walter who is rightly honoured. Joe Gonsalves
