Mumbai, Jan 11: Mangalorean Welfare Association presented a Konkan Nite on Sunday, 10th Jan 2010 at Zaverban Popoatlal Sabhagriha, Ghatkoper. It was its 57th venture on the occasion of its 37th Anniversary.
The programme consisted of songs composed by Charles DCunha and Wilfred Fernades and the dance by Nanch Moga Nach team. Special attraction was the song by Kenny Zuzarte who made the crowd to shout once more.
The programme started with the song Swagat Geet composed by Charles D'Cunha and sung by the whole troupe. The presented songs were Suchita (Wilfred Fernandes, Renica D'Souza), Milagrin Mojem Nanv (Milagrin), Konkani Bhas (Ivan DSouza, Charles DCunha, Antony Tauro), Kurlyo (Kenny), Kallzak Kalliz Bhettovyam (Lancy D'Almeida, Florine Mathias), Eklench Mujem Bai (Aletta DSouza), Botler ani Randpin (Veronica and Charles), Gavpi (Ivan Sequeira), Mogachim Kallzam (Wilfred, Florine), Susmitha (Antony Tauro), Udevn ye Chondrema (Renica DSouza), Taka Tak Dum (Kenny), Sangeet Kutam ( Wilfred, Renica, Aletta), Maria (Charles, Ivan, Antony), Fulabai (Wilfred, Lancy, Renica and Florine)
"Our community people need to focus on becoming industrialists, businessmen and Entrepreneurs. We should not remain as cooks and drivers" said Walter John Waz, the chief guest of the programme.
"We need to encourage our artistes. We need to show our love to our people. We need to understand each other strengthen our unity" said Jacintha B D'Souza the guest of honour.
The students who are excelled in their field were felicitated. They are Roger Quadras (BE), Joel DSouza (BCom), Lorraine Brags (DEd), Carol Brags (HSC), Lorna DSilva (HSC), Leslie Castelino (SSC), Roysyl Fernandes(SSC), Clive DSouza (SSC).
Clament Lobo Compered the cultural programme. Vincent Castelino compered the stage programme.
Baptist DSouza (President), Stanislaus S Saldanha (Vice President), Vincent Castelino (Secretary), Robert Quadras (Tresurer) and the members Everest Fernandes, Robert D'Cunha, Rosa Machado, Gracie Joseph, Milton Fernandes, Danny Chandra, Peter Dsouza and Gregory Serrao were present at the occasion.
