Pakistan violates LoC ceasefire in J&K's Poonch

Jammu, May 18 (IANS): The Pakistan Army on Monday again resorted to unprovoked shelling and firing on the Line of Control (LoC) on Monday in J&K's Poonch district, an army official said.

Defence Ministry spokesman, Col Devender Anand said: "At about 7 p.m. Pakistan initiated unprovoked ceasefire violation by firing with small arms and shelling with mortars along the LoC in Gulpur sector (of Poonch).

"Indian Army is retaliating befittingly."

Since January this year, Pakistan has violated bilateral ceasefire on the LoC in J&K with impunity.

Army officers believe the same is done to provide fire cover to terrorists so that they are able to sneak into the Indian side.
