Gurugram, May 22 (IANS): Gurugram registered its second death in two days due to Covid-19 on Friday. The deceased is a 75-year-old man of Rajendra Park. He was admitted in Sector 10 Civil Hospital and later he was referred to ESI Hospital.
Gurugram civil surgeon J.S. Punia confirmed the death. Earlier on Thursday, a resident of sector 53 in Gurugram who was also admitted in civil hospital and later referred to PGI Rohtak for treatment had died due to Covid-19.
The two back-to-back deaths in Gurugram have jolted the district administration.
Earlier, a 54-year-old trader of Ganga Vihar near bus stand who committed suicide after his wife was infected with coronavirus, was also found positive. Another elderly man of Fazilpur village died due to heart attack in the month of April, was also infected with Covid 19. Following their deaths, these two places were declared as containment zones.
Ten more fresh cases of coronavirus were found on Thursday. 4 new cases appeared in Dadawas village and one case each appeared in sector 28 Chakkarpur, Kadipur, Pataudi, Sarhaul, Dharam Colony Palam Vihar extension and Dundahera.
The situation is alarming with 96 positive cases detected in the last 10 days. The city currently has 250 positive cases including 110 who are still recuperating in different hospitals. 140 patients were discharged from hospitals.
"All these infected persons come in contact with high risk positive patients. They are isolated in different hospitals and their houses are declared as quarantine homes. We are collecting samples of their family members," Punia said.
