Mumbai, Jan 27: The annual get-together and sports meet was organized by metro-based Bhandary Seva Samiti, at Radhabai T Bhandary auditorium of Bunts Sangh, located at Kurla (East), here on Saturday January 23.
Balakrishna Puttur, chairman of Pune-ased Cabinet Systems Private Limited inaugurated the sports meet. Balakrishna and Sulochana couple offered motion to the sports meet by traditional method of breaking the coconuts.
Devadiga Sangh president Dharmapal U Devadiga was the guest of honour.
Speaking on the occasion, Balakrishna Puttur said that sports are an inherent art that conveys the comradeship. The sport facilitates to bring about unity in the diverse society. The social activists should essentially have the virtues of self-sacrifice and work for the betterment of society. Meanwhile the community is also required to extend their support to committed social activists, he said.
Balakrishna said that the combined efforts of social activists and community can contribute for the progress of society. These sports meet will help in leading the society to prosperity and unity among the diverse community, he added.
Bhandary Seva Samiti president Balakrishna P Bhandary presided over the programme and acknowledged the graces of his native deity Sri Kacchur Nageshwara in his aspirations to construct Bhandary Bhavan in metro, which would be ready shortly. He urged the support of community in preserving the contemporary culture and tradition unique to Bhandary community.
Samiti honorary chief secretary lawyer R M Bhandary, honorary treasurer B Venkatesh Bhandary, advisory committee president lawyer Sundar F Bhandary, building committee president Kadandale Suresh S Bhandary, funds raising committee president Shivaram Bhandary, women wing president Rukmini Bhandary, joint secretary Prashant Bhandary and joint treasurers Ramesh Bhandary among others were present on the dais.
The heads of other Tulu – Kannadiga organizations and political leaders were the specially invited guests present on the occasion.
Cultural programmes were held as part of entertainment events. Ancient fashion show conceived by Prasad Bhandary was also staged on the occasion, besides dance and music extravaganza by the artistes of Kala Sourabha.
Samiti vice-president Padmanabha Bhandary welcomed the gathering. Joint secretary Vijay Bhandary Nallasopara presented the prayer song and compered the programme.
