Bengaluru: CM, ministers, MLAs to lose 30 percent earnings for a year

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (SP)

Bengaluru, May 30: The government has issued a revised order as per which the legislators will have to sacrifice 30 percent of their pay and allowances for year.

The MLAs get Rs 25,000 per month as pay and Rs 1.5 lac by way of different allowances. The officials in the assembly secretariat had confusion on whether the cut has to be affected out of pay alone or also in respect of allowances. Therefore, advice of legal department was sought. As per the advice, the order has now been revised to include pay and allowances when affecting this 30 percent cut.

The cut will be uniformly applicable to the chief minister, assembly speaker, council chairperson, ministers, legislators, and MLCs. Effective April 1, these people will lose around Rs 45,000 a month for a year to tide over coronavirus effect.
