Udupi, Feb 5: Udupi Friends won the 33rd Nethaji Cricket tournament organized by Nethaji Sports Club, Parkala here on Thursday February 4.

In the final encounter the Udupi Friends defeated VCC, Udayavara team by four wickets.  Batting first the VCC team scored 80 runs in allotted 15 overs. The Udupi Friends reached the target in 11.4 overs which fetched them the trophy.

The prize distribution ceremony was held under the chairmanship of Deepak U, secretary, Karnataka Cricket Club. Y S Rao, cricket administrator and a qualified umpire gave away the prizes.

The Udupi Friends were awarded with the cash prize of Rs 12,000 and the runner-up, VCC team were given a cash prize of Rs 6,000.

Rovel from Udupi Friends won the Man of the Series award. Kiran from VCC team was the Best Bowler. Harish and Prashanth from Udupi Friends were named the Best Batsman and Best Fielder respectively.

Balakrishna Parkala, president of the club welcomed the gathering and Shankar Kulal proposed the vote of thanks. Umesh Shanubhag compered the programme.
