Governor Sankaranarayanan releases Magazine ‘Kerala in Mumbai’

Mumbai, Feb 8: The Governor of Maharashtra K Sankaranarayanan released the first copy of a newly launched magazine ‘Kerala in Mumbai,’ at a function held at Nehru Centre here on Saturday February 6.  


 
An estimated 1.5 million people of Kerala origin are residing in the metro since the past many decades The English magazine ‘Kerala in Mumbai’ has been published with the objective of reaching out to the second and third generation of Keralites living in the metro, many of whom are losing touch with their mother tongue Malayalam.

According to Vijay Kumar, the editor of ‘Kerala in Mumbai, it is an attempt to inform the generation of the rich cultural heritage of Kerala, its festivals, theatre, cuisine, language and also literature.

    There was only a news item and no article. Majority of migrant Malayalee parents seldom speaks Malayalm to their kids - forget about teaching Kerala culture etc. Let these shallow-minded Malayalee parents learn one or two things from the other Indians who speak/teach their mother tongue to their kids with pride......
