Ravi Rounak, Joice Mary Elected for ICYM National Council

Mumbai, Feb 10: The ICYM National Council biennial elections took place at Dhyana Ashram, Vasai Diocese of Western region on Saturday February 6.

February 6 is a symbolic day for ICYM as it is observed as the ICYM foundation day, the start of decennial year and also it is celebrated as the feast of ICYM patron saint Gonsalo Garcia.

ICYM election commissioner Amit Prabhu ,former ICYM National spokesperson declared the results in the presence of Archbishop Leo Cornelio, chairman CBCI Commission for Youth-ICYM.

Ravi Rounak from Bihar was elected as the National youth president, Joice Mary from Kerala as general secretary, Solomon Gomes from West Bengal as spokesperson, Deepika Kujur from Chattisgarh as treasurer.  Along with them Rupal Figer of Maharastra (Western Region) was elected as vice-president, Richard Syiemiong of Meghalaya (North East Region) as vice-president (II),  Jomol Joy of Madhya Pradesh as joint spokesperson,  Arnest Kujur of Orissa as joint treasurer.  SwamyNadhan of Andhra Pradesh, Bharathi Dasan of Tamil Nadu, Seema Tirkey of Uttar Pradesh, Shalini Mathew of Karnataka and Pardeep of Punjab (Northern Region) were appointed as secretaries. Fr Franklin D’ Souza from Karnataka, Fr Kuriakose Mambrakatt from Orissa, Sr Theresa Salemthangi MSMHC of Assam (North East Region) and Sr Benigna HMS, Uttar Pradesh were elected as regional directors and lady animators  to the ICYM National Executive Committee (NEXCO) 

In the evening the newly elected NEXCO along with the new council paid a visit to the birth place of Saint Gonsalo Garcia and made a Novena prayer prepared by Fr Joel D’ Cunha. This was followed by a Holy mass along with the Oath Taking Ceremony of the elected NEXCO led by Bp Vicent Samuel, member bishop of CBCI Commission for Youth-ICYM, at St Gonsalo Garcia Chruch, Barhampur. 

The valedictory function along with the inauguration of decennial jubilee year and one rupee campaign for Youth Active Foundation ® - ICYM corpus fund was held at the St Gonsalo Garcia, Church Hall.

The function was presided over by Bp Vincent Samuel. Vivek Pandit, MLA of Vasai, Fr Joel D’Cunha, former executive secretary to CBCI commission for youth, and the founder director of ICYM were the guest of honour along with the newly elected president and general secretary. Fr  Alwyn M J D’ Souza, executive secretary of CBCI commission for Youth and National director of ICYM delivered the introductory note.. The decennial jubilee year logo was inaugurated and the outgoing NEXCO Sajish Jose, president, Atasha Dsouza, vice-president-I ,  Jomon Vellappally, vice-president-II, regional director Fr Lancy Paul and Sr Vinita SSPS, were felicitated.  Bishop Vincent Samuel, member Bishops of CBCI Commission for Youth was also felicitated for his 12 years of dedicated service to the Youth of India and ICYM. The regional director of Western Region Fr Olavo Caido, welcomed the gathering and the diocesan director of Vasai Fr. Johnson proposed the vote of thanks.
