After Rahul, Shah Rukh, Ashok Chavan becomes Shiv Sena Target

Mumbai, Feb 11 (IANS) After Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi and Bollywood megastar Shah Rukh Khan, the Shiv Sena Thursday trained its guns on Maharashtra Chief Minister Ashok Chavan, saying he "owes his post to Pakistan".

In a scathing editorial in party mouthpiece Saamna, Sena chief Bal Thackeray said the very same "Khan" whom he was supporting would prove to be Chavan's nemesis.

Thackeray said Chavan came to the post courtesy Pakistan. "It appears that Pakistan sent the 10 terrorists from the sea route to attack Mumbai to ensure he got the post of chief minister."

He was referring to then chief minister Vilasrao Deshmukh losing the post after the 26/11 attacks and Chavan being put in the saddle.

"Now to keep his position secure, Chavan is busy licking the boots of Pakistani loving 'Khans' in Maharashtra," he said.

The editorial comes in the wake of the Maharashtra government arresting over 1,600 Shiv Sena activists for attempting to disrupt the screening of upcoming Shah Rukh starrer "My Name is Khan".

The Shiv Sena has been targeting Shah Rukh for speaking out against the exclusion of Pakistani cricketers from the Indian Premier League.

"At this rate, Chavan may soon become a 'national hero' in Pakistan," the editorial added.

Thackeray said Chavan got Sena activists showing black flags to Rahul Gandhi arrested and even caned, and later threatened to withdraw the security of Shiv Sena executive president Uddhav Thackeray.

"Well done, Chavan! For the manner in which you are running the state administration, you deserve to be the chief minister of Peshawar or Balochistan," he said.

He further said in the edit that in Pakistan it is a tradition to curb political opponents by using military force or throwing them in jail.

"Here also Chavan has unleashed a 'police raj' and vowed in the name of (Mohammed Ajmal Amir) 'Kasab' to crush the Shiv Sena," Thackeray said referring to the terrorist who was caught alive in the 26/11 attacks.

But before Chavan can flutter the Pakistan flag in Maharashtra, he would have to contend with the Shiv Sena - and nobody has the guts to do so, Thackeray said.

He said for supporting Pakistan lovers, the 'reverse counting' for Chavan has begun and he would be treated as the 'Genghis Khan' of Nanded, alongside Aurangzeb and Afzal Khan.

He said Maharashtra has had many such 'children' of Congress 'rulers', but it was the mistake of patriotic parties like Sena "to show our patriotism". "Now, let them make a movie called 'My Name Is Kasab' and if anybody dares to oppose it, hand them over to Pakistan," the edit concluded.

If Ashok Chauhan has come to power it is because the people of Maharastra have elected him and kicked out the Shiv Sena. Senile old man Thackery and his son should sit back at home and lick their wounds instead of making stupid allegations, which indirectly are abusive to the entire people of Maharastra who have elected the Congress. Last time the electorate just kicked out the Shiv seena and i hope the next time the people of Maharastra will kick them right into the Arabian sea and get themselves liberated from this cancer. Rahul Gandhi has shown just last week that Bombay belongs to all and there is nothing this old man and his family can do about it.

Ashok Chavan deserves what he gets, he seems to forget that he heads an elected government in the State of Maharashtra and his prime duty is to ensure good governence through law and order. Arresting Shivsainiks during Rahul's visit to protect law and order can be a positive step but siding with Khan and urging people to watch his movie definitly reeks of sycopancy of the lowest kind. I am neither for or against any Khan or Khandan....

But this makes Chavan look like a puppet on a string, either manipulated from Delhi, or by Bollywood, builders, mafia or...you name it! Is the government there to protect the rich and famous movie stars and increase their business or is it there to protect the rights, life and property of of every citizen of the State? Chavan should remember that the Congress came to power in the State despite its bungling and the mess it made, surely not because of any efficient ruling that Vilasrao government had done. All know of the vote splitting that took place.

Today, if the infrastructure is bursting at the seams, water is vanishing from our taps and builder-politician mafia is dictating to the government, it is the doing of the Congress government! So stop being the stooge of anybody Mr. CM and show us your ability in ruling, you are there because people voted for your party and not beause of 3-4 Khans or their khandaans voted for you!!

The Thackeray clan, be it uncle, son or nephew have no real agenda, other than critisizing. They hav'nt done anything constructive or positive. Let me remind him that it was during their tenure in power between 1995 and 1999 in Maharashtra, there was a significant increase in dance bars in Mumbai, they can only take that as their achievment, other than creating discord in the country and communites and creating an atmosphere to divide us on communal lines. Marathi Manoos, what about the Marathi Bai, I encourage the Maharastrian women to raise this issue and create more chaos and anarchy and so people will have more live tamasha. These "3 idiots" aren't bothered about the Price rise, water scarcity and issues of social stigma, they are on and on with their marathi Manoos. learn to lie and let live.

The goonda-raj by Shiv Sena in Maharashtra is a blot on our judiciary and such incident will make us a laughing stock in front of the world around us. America had the cowboy & Sheriff rule in the 18th century & ours is a vibrant democracy of 21st century.
