Dubai: ‘Carnival De Goa’ Celebration A Thumping Success

Dubai, Feb 12: The banquet hall of Astoria Hotel saw a Goan celebration on Thursday February 11, organized by United Friends who have been hosting the carnival for three years. 

They joined hands with Global Goans to conduct the Carnival De Goa for the fourth consecutive year.

‘Purple Rain’ which is celebrating 25 years in the music industry, came all the way from Goa for this event. DJ Heston from UAE and DJ Rinton from Goa, kept the floor fully occupied with their foot-tapping music 




























The main part of the event was the appearance by King Momo. The parade, led by King Momo and his queen, and all the festivities happening in Goa thoroughout the year like the Sanjoao in June and Bandra flag feast in January and Shigmo festival were exhibited. 

There were also fancy dress competitions for children as well as adults followed by a jive competion. In the adult category, first place went to the woman with a sense of humour in the papaya costume. 

To mark the 25 years of Purple Rain, led by Acaio Tawares, a celebration cake was cut.

Speaking to Daijiworld, Remy said that they had a overwhelming response and the tickets were sold out four days before the show.
