Puttur: Shivratri Celebrated at Dakshina Kashi

Puttur, Feb 13: Thousands of devotees gathered to celebrate Shivratri at the Sahasralingeshwara temple, uppinangady, popularly known as the Dakshina Kashi and performed puja to the Shivlinga on Friday February 12.



The devotees arrived from far-off places and offered the puja ingredients like milk, tender coconut, ghee, honey and so on. Most of the devotees performed puja on their own while some of them took the help of priests.

The Makhi fare of the temple commenced with Shivratri celebrations. Many religious programmes were held.

Some of the devotees also kept fasting and performed dhyana at the confluence of Netravati and Kumaradhara rivers.
