'MNIK' Releases in All Theatres in Maharashtra

Mumbai, Feb 13 (IANS) Shah Rukh Khan starrer "My name is Khan" has opened in all theatres in Mumbai, Pune and across Maharashtra, a spokesperson of director Karan Johar said Saturday.

"All centres in Mumbai, Pune and Maharashra have opened 'My Name is Khan'," the spokesperson told IANS.

Meanwhile, Karan Johar, who is attending the Berlin Film Festival where his film had a red-carpet premiere Friday, said in an SMS: "I truly wish I was home on the day of our release... I am overwhelmed with all the feedback... I have never received so much love on any film before."

On Friday, only 13 theatres in the city had released the film, including six multiplexes and four single-screen halls. The movie was originally set to be released in 63 theatres.

Meanwhile, Shah Rukh's wife Gauri Khan is visiting two theatres in the city Saturday to speak to fans.

According to reports, Gauri is to visit the Imax theatres at Wadala, near Bandra, and the Metro theatre downtown.

No untoward situation was reported from theatres screening the film on Saturday, police said.

On Friday, thousands had thronged cinema halls to see "My Name is Khan", giving the thumbs down to the Shiv Sena that called for its boycott to protest the Bollywood megastar's advocacy of Pakistani cricketers.

To prove a point, Maharashtra Home Minister R.R. Patil and Minister of State for Home Ramesh Bagwe had purchased tickets and watched the movie at INOX cinema in south Mumbai.

I just saw the movie in Dubai as it released here on Thursday. The movie is awesome…Shahrukh’s performance is topnotch!! After Chak de India, this is his best acting ever… Concept of the Movie: There are only two kind of people in the world – Good people who do good deeds and Bad people who do bad deeds and there is no other difference!!. What a concept.

I really salute to the cute emotional scenes of Shahrukh!!! Truly Awesome!!. I am proud that SRK didnt apologize to Shivsena, If he would have done that his movie would have added another 70-80 crore to the profits but not the true message of the film – which is humanity!!. hats off to Shahrukh.
