Puttur: Perverted Minds Desecrate Gandhiji’s Statue

Puttur: Perverted Minds Desecrate Gandhiji’s Statue
Daijiworld Media Network - Puttur (RS/SP)

Puttur, Feb 15: In an incident that can make well-meaning people to hang their heads in shame, some miscreants were found to have placed a garland of footwear around the neck of the statue of the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi. This incident happened at the KSRTC bus stand here on Monday February 15 morning.

After finding a garland of footwear on the said statue, people of the area gathered there and condemned the incident. The policemen, who got the information, arrived on the spot and took charge of the situation. Later, the tahasildar of Puttur taluk, Dase Gowda, came to the spot and removed the garland. It was seen that two chappals were tied with the help of a thread and then hung around the neck of the statue.

It is believed that the miscreants placed the footwear garland on the statue late night on Sunday.

The tahsildar informed the media that strict action would be taken against those responsible for this heinous act. He said that the policemen will conduct an in-depth investigation into the episode.

The statue had been erected in memory of the visit of Mahatma Gandhiji to Puttur in the year 1934 during the freedom struggle.

Oh: Most Ashamed boys who put chappal on Mahatms neck. The statue lost nothing. Mahatma is mahatma for ever, what ever you did is shameful deed. Think about abroads what they will think of you. Other than India all people respect to Gandhi but citizen of India wont respect their father of nation then it means they never give restpect to their own parents. Dont spoil our nations tradition and culture.

Why put pressure on Acharya's fanatic mind! Track record shows, he openly support attack on minority and also humanity! Wait and hope for a change until state govt changes and human values will gain respect!! Till then, if you oppose openly, you will end up with police case, which will take few years to clear even under pressure, by then he will be too old to remember what did he do!! Pity our current state leadership!!

Shahnawaz Bhai/Dubai, All the people mentioned by you namely Nagesh Nayak and party are helping out the authorities to find out the culprits. Hence you dont see them commenting here. If they would have had a little respect for their Motherland dont you think they would have commented ? It's sick mentalities like them who have carried out this dirty act. Just dont give improtance to these people and you'll see that they cease to exist. I am sure none of these people would have done a smallest deed worthy enough to make their Motherland a safer place to live in.

Many strange, divisive activities are happening in DK and Karnataka State since BJP came to power. This make us to believe / suspect a political party may want to destroy the peace and harmony in the state, create divide between the citizens of state, create confusion and by doing all this BJP can be politically destroyed?? !!!. If we closely watch it is very clear that the opposition parties are always responds to such incidents as if they have done their home work very well (planned ahead). Are we public made scapegoat of their agenda? If so all citizens must fight such motive united.

Those who read Godse's biography...if you read most peoples biography (written by their admirers)you will always find justification for all kinds of acts. I am sure terrorists who kill themselves (they do not run away from the scene either) are convinced about their acts and justify them. For those who wish to get a historical perspective, read the book 'Freedom at Midnight', and Gandhi's writings might provide some eye opening as well. Of course 'nobody is as blind as the one who refuses to see'.

It could be the work of jehadis, muslim terrorists, ISI or Abhinav bharath, Shiv Sena, BD or Sanatha samstha. No body knows who has done it. You people are so much communual minded that just to malign another community, your mentor organisations might have carried out the attack. 99% comments blame RSS & GODSE . After reading Life histroy of Godse, my vision towards Godse changed. According to Godse Gandhi was responsible for partition.Godse loved India too much. When India was divided,He took this dangerous decision to kill Gandhi. He said before going to gallows " Mahatma is the one who unites the country,But Gandhi divided the country, He is not Mahatma" He even predicted that there would be continuous fight between Hindus and Muslims because of this partition. When millons of Hindu refugees came from Pakistan to India,Gandhiji didn't take care of them (according to Godse).

I don't accept Godse is a terrorist because he didn't run after killing, there was good chance to run and hide. He is a killer and not a terrorist. The problem with Godse and RSS was that they understood/studied Gandhi only 50%. Common man can't study Gandhi fully. For that one has to be Mahatma !

no one is going over the actual cause. There are so many liquor shops in and out everywhere, be it puttur, mangalore, udupi, bangalore, mumbai or delhi. A person who has drunk some 6-7 bottles in a gadang will not know whether he is keeping his chappal in a chappal stand or on Gandhi statue. And is it the original place of the statue? it looks so disgusting. Even in front of MCC, the statue for the greater part of the year will not have the spectacles!!!

I bow my head down in utter shame and frustration and I cant call myself an Indian. What a shame. Who it could be? I strongly feel that its the work of those who dont respect the liberator and father of our nation. I have read some infamous articles criticising the role of mahatma gandhi and questioning his inability to get nobel peace award. The blog that published such critical articles belongs to some fundamental outifits. Those who have done it are enemies of our country.

We have enemies within and we certainly dont require some one from outside to destroy us. What we are doing is self destruction. Thats very very unfortunate. No words can explain the evil state of affairs of our state. I am sure there could be some supporters of this crime. Just watchout for comments. Bapu I follow your ideologies. You are my role model and you have practiced and preached non violence. Please dont blow this news clip out of proportion to foreign media. Its national shame and we cant face foreign media. Shame on all of us.

This act can be done by a pervert or insane person even any religious extremists can’t stoop at such level. Mahatma Gandhi is revered person all over the world, the culprits should be nabbed immediately and stern action is required.

Chappal garland on Bapuji will not make him small AND he is far beyond these insults because he is a MAHATHMA, the father of our nation.
Pardon those ignorants for they know not what they are doing.

Something terribly wrong here in DK! Lately living ppl are anyway target of doing anything to nothing but they didn't even spare the statues that too MG's....very unfortunate and shameful. Well the irony of the incident is that Tashildar took the credit to remove this slipper garland & never bothered to notice those dried garlands which must have been there since Oct 2.

One day churches, then temples, then mosques and now the statue of the Mahatma. With plenty of our own around and amongst us, do we need any foreign enemies to destroy our country?

Shame on all those who have done this or think on these terms. The Mahatma is respected throughout the World, but its an irony that all these years of education and knowledge avaliable online has not helped us Indians to know the Mahatma better. A garland of this type on his neck is not going to change the thinking of good people who do follow the Mahatmas principles without questioning them.
