Abu Dhabi -  Feb. 18: Konkani Cultural Organisation (K.C.O.), the premium organization of Abu Dhabi  is all set and planning its grand annual Konkani extravaganza  ‘Mangalorean Day-2010’ on a unique format on Friday,16th of April 2010 at the Arzanah Ball Room, Sheraton, Abu Dhabi.

In its endeavour to promote Konkani culture, KCO will showcase renowned Konkani singing stars from Mangalore and Goa with new as well as renowned artistes to breathe fresh air on the cultural scene to  make it a glittering event. 

The one and only, Lorna, the Goan Nightingale, crooner par excellence will be back in Abu Dhabi once again to capture the hearts of Konkani music lovers to perform her spectacular and famous Konkani numbers on this day. 

She is known to take her audience by storm.  Both the young and old alike look forward to being regaled by her energy and melody packed voice . She is a household name for Konkani music lovers around the world and it is  good news that Lorna has agreed to perform for KCO’s prestigious event in Abu Dhabi.  She will be assisted by the Ace Musician Norman, who has been accompanying her in all the shows since several years.

The other star attractions of the show include, Lawry Travasso, who is the receipient of Yuva Srujan Puraskar Award, Gulab Award, Dr. Jack De Sequeira Award, Global Music Award (Mangalore) and has 63 Albums to his credit, and is an accomplished singer and composer from Goa.

And to back them all, Mangalore’s own and  one of the most versatile singers Adolph Jayathilak with his enchanting voice will regale the audience.  Adolph,  darling of youngsters has the ability to attract youngsters with his hip hop songs in Konkani as well as Lankan songs.

Although Konkani is not Adolf’s mother tongue, he has brought out his first Konkani album ‘Ye Mana' last year and it was an instant hit.  Adolph had staged maiden show in Dubai last year capturing the hearts o f Dubai audience.

To breathe fresh air, new and upcoming Mangalorean talents are flown  all the way from Mangalore and are given opportunity to perform in Abu Dhabi for the first time, they include Prakash D’Souza the upcoming star with his mellifluous voice along with the new singing sensation Lovita Lobo, who was crowned as “Rani Kogul”  at the Mand Sobhan singing competition held last year.  These two youngsters will surely capture the hearts of Abu Dhabi  audience, being the future of Konkani Music.   

The combination of above talents and the super Master of Ceremony Leslie Rego – the compere beyond compare, will add more glamour and excitement with his unique wit and professional approach and prove why he is so much sought after .

The day will also include traditional songs, novelty dances, performance by professional dancers with loads of prizes and surprises in store and will be a total entertainment package for the entertainment hungry Abu Dhabi audience. .

    It nice to see KCO programs. I have attended one few years back. Every time they will support Goan artist it is very good there is no barrier for music and art but I never seen any time a Goan association iviting any Mangalorean artists Why is this?
