Bantwal: Illegal sand extraction unit raided by Vittal police

Bantwal, Aug 2: Acting on a tip-off, Vittal police conducted a raid on August 1 at an illegal sand extraction site in Katthathila of Salethur village in Bantwal taluk.

According to reports, Abdul Samad was found extracting sand illegally using machinery from a river in the area. Based on credible information, Vittal Police Station sub-inspector Ratnakumar, along with his team, visited the location—approximately one kilometre from the Kerala border near the Salethur Katthathila river bridge—and conducted an inspection.

During the raid, the police found around 2 to 3 pickup loads of sand, machinery used for sand extraction, iron mesh, fibre baskets, iron rods, and other equipment used in the illegal activity. All the items were seized on the spot.

A case has been registered at Vittal police station under crime no. 93/2025, and further investigation is underway.
