Daijiworld Media Network - Udupi

Udupi, Jul 4: “The lockdown on Sunday, July 5 would be strictly imposed in Udupi,” said deputy commissioner (DC) G Jagadeesha and warned the citizens to stay indoors.

“The lockdown on Sunday would be imposed in the district starting from tomorrow July 5, every Sunday until August 2. However, transportation of necessary goods will be permitted including their loading and unloading.

“On Sundays, only medical shops, clinics, and hospitals will be open and only newspaper and milk shops will be available and other items required should be stocked at least a day prior to the lockdown, the DC said.

The commissioner has clarified that the weddings planned and scheduled before the decision was taken can be carried out but only after procuring necessary permission from the respective tahsildar. Not more than 50 persons can attend weddings.

If any vehicle found plying without any purpose would be seized along with fines imposed, the commissioner warned.

    Dear Sri Jagadeesha (DC) Udupi,
My question is why dont you give landing permission to the chartered flights coming from the Gulf Countries. Vande Bharath missions flights are going only to the Kerala State and not a single flight to Bangalore or Mangalore. Instead "Vande Bharat" you can name it as "Vande Kerala". Why this kind of Negligency for Kannadiga's? There are many Kannadigas are stranded without job, without accommodation, without food, without madical treatment. Many Kannadiga's are stranded here illegally without visa. They dont have money to pay for their room rent, for their food and from where they can pay their immigration fine. Do you want them to go to Jail? Our politicians are sleeping and please wake them up and do something for the poor Kannadiga's.
    With best wishes,

First of all what is the Logic having Lock Down on Sunday's ? People are not Co-operating with the Government or Authorities. Yesterday I travelled to Santhekatte from Udupi and saw 3 to 4.Passengers travelling in the same Bus without Masks. No Sanitisation. How Conductor have these Passengers are a question mark. So when things are going on in such a manner, Lock Down and no Lock Down does not make any Sense. Only Innocent People will be in trouble or problem.
