Bengaluru, Jul 8: A team of experts formed to advise the state government on the issue of continuing technology-based academic education in the coronavirus times, which was chaired by Prof M K Sridhar, has submitted its report to the state government.

The report has suggested that along with games, pre-primary students aged between three and six can be taught lessons through novel activities like storytelling, songs etc. In the mandatory presence of the parents, three 30 minutes per day periods can be taught in a week. For first and second standard students, activities at the rate of two period’s duration of 30 minutes per day in the form of games, stories etc can be taught three days in a week, the report has said.

For the students between third and fifth standards, two periods of 30 minutes each can be held five days a week. The teaching can be adjusted to support the syllabus. For sixth to eight standards, three period of 30 to 45 minutes time can be held. For ninth and tenth standard students, maximum of four periods of 30 to 45 minutes duration per day has been recommended.

Primary and secondary education minister, S Suresh Kumar, said that taking into consideration recommendations contained in the report, rules will be framed duly taking into account the high court judgement in the matter.

Prof M K Sridhar stated that the committee had members representing different strata of the society. He stated that the committee could come out with a good report as everyone had the interests of the children in mind.
