Mangaluru, Feb 22: The forest department has successfully trapped a leopard that had created an atmosphere of fear in Aikala, Talippady, and Kolbettu areas near Kinnigoli.
For the past few weeks, the leopard's movement was frequently sighted in the Kinnigoli region. The predator had reportedly preyed on several domestic animals, leading to a situation where residents were afraid to step out of their homes after sunset.




In coordination with forest department officials, local youths had been making efforts for the past few days to track and trap the dangerous leopard. Their efforts bore fruit on February 21 night around 9 pm when the leopard finally walked into the cage set for it.
Presence of more leopards suspected
According to forest officials and local residents, at least one or two more leopards are suspected to be roaming in the vicinity. Residents have been cautioned to remain alert. Officials stated that personnel have been deployed to monitor the area, and they expressed confidence that any remaining leopards would be trapped and relocated to the forest within a few days.
