Mangaluru: Landslide at Halekote endangers building - Three families shifted

Mangaluru, Jul 17: Due to heavy rain that was experienced in the city since the last two days, a hillock near Halikote, Ullal, suffered landslide on Thursday July 16. As a result, a building there was facing grave danger. As such, three families living in the building were shifted to safer places.

The building in question, owned by Abdulla from Halekote, was given on rent. Due to the impact of the landslide, the building developed cracks. An electric pole also got uprooted and the road there suffered heavy damage.

Local councillor, Zareena Ravoof, said that the road at this spot had suffered depression last year and that the officials and MLA U T Khader, were approached to repair the damage. She said that they were yet to do anything in this matter.

Ullal municipal commissioner Rayappa, village accountant Pramod, assistant Navneet and municipal councillor Zareena visited the spot and scrutinised the damage.
