Mangaluru: After visiting five hospitals, pregnant lady goes without treatment

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (SP)

Mangaluru, Jul 21: Geetha (27), wife of a coolie named Anand from Darkhasu, Nelyady, had visited the Nelyady hospital with her elder sister on Saturday morning. She was suffering from some fever and was worried about the decreased movement of her baby inside the womb. From Nelyady hospital she was sent to Kokkada government hospital. As the doctors were not available there, she was sent by an ambulance to Lady Goschen Hospital here. She moved between Lady Goschen and Wenlock Hospitals and spent time waiting on the floor of Wenlock Hospital till 12.30 am but she had not been able to get treatment. Thereafter, her family members had hired a vehicle from Nelyady to bring her back from Mangaluru.

Dakshina Kannada district in-charge minister, Kota Srinivas Poojary on Monday July 20 instructed the deputy commissioner (DC) of the district to investigate the incident. He had also asked her to make arrangements to see that the lady gets treatment immediately.

Kadaba tahsildar John Prakash Rodrigues, visited the house of the distressed woman and gathered information from her. She underwent health check and scanning at the government hospital, Puttur, on Monday. Her fever has subsided and she is in good health. Necessary medical help has been extended, and a report in this regard would be sent to the deputy commissioner, he said.

A high level committee guided by the deputy commissioner has already begun investigation into the incident as per the orders of the district in-charge minister. District health officer, Dr Ratnakar, said that the family members of the woman have been asked to be present before the investigation team to record statements on July 21.

This Corona has made our sick medical care system in India more worst, ,and developed as a mafia to mint money.Everywhere they are waiting to look into pockets, but not to treat a patient.I heard even in Airports ,they keep a person in quarantine as soon as one arrives from foreign country ,later charge 3,000 Rupees per day .Imagine who wants to come on short leave and remain in airport ?How far it is true ,I dont know. This pregnent lady must have had some fever as in rainy days or due to malaria which is common in mangalore.Health system is completely deteriorated in India.A strong person we need in this regard to improve this.

Many of the Medical colleges in DK have “free Beds “ which they have to reserve for the poor , but none are given free treatment. High time the government looks into this matter and ensure the poor are given treatment in these healthcare industries . After all these colleges are under the Medical council of India and free beds with free treatment is one of the requirements to start a medical college.

What, the PM Modi Ayushman Bharath health scheme for 50 crore citizens, not applicable to her ? I heard the citizens can go to any govt or approved pvt hospitals and get cashless treatment up to Rs 5 lakhs per individual or family. May be she has not made the card or the scheme is not made known to her. The panchayat people should try to enroll the poor families and educate them on the scheme.

Always a high level committee is formed for investigation. I really don't understand why you need a high level committee to investigate when you have all the facts on your table.

Really this government is heartless, dumb, deaf , governement. They r playing in the life of poors, I f ministers gets ill they will get nice treatment from hospitals, But poor is suffering. When i see all these situations faced by the poor, i feel very bad for them. I pray to god please open the eyes of ppl who r voting for them without seeing whether they have real concern or not. Its the reality. SO VOTERS PLEASE THINK BEFORE VOTING.DONT VOTE FOR RELIGION, BUT VOTE FOR HUMANITY.
