The only way to discourage of ill treatment of these animals is open domestic market policy like exports. If the demand and supply chain reduces then prices will come down. At the same time farmers will assured with return for unproductive animals so that they can invest in the new off springs.

If there is no religious compulsion attach to the exports of 'beef trade' then it should also open to the domestic market.

I would like see returns for farmers paid rather than these animals abandon by them and ended up starvation in 'Gau Shala'. After none of the 'Gau Shala' in entire nation has proper head count of animals brought in. Nor our 'Animal rights' activist has the right census of it.

Some good Indian business group (preferably one among the leading beef/meat exporters of the country) should be given contract to manufacture specialised vehicles where animals being taken for slaughter can be transported in a humane way... there should be specialised vehicles for different animals... poultry, goats/sheep, pigs and cattle...
