Amid rising cases, over 3,300 coronavirus patients in Bengaluru deemed 'untraceable'

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (SHP)

Bengaluru, Jul 26: Earlier it seemed as though Karnataka had a satisfactory control over the spread of coronavirus infections. However, the situation in the state capital is turning quite disastrous. The authorities have said that as many as 3,338 people who have tested positive for the infection are 'untraceable' and claimed that a search is underway to trace the people infected with the novel coronavirus.

Meanwhile, the authorities have stated that the reason for over 3,300 coronavirus patients remaining 'untraceable' in Bengaluru is their unwillingness to provide their details.

Patients do not share their correct details with the authorities when they go for testing which is why over 3,300 people infected with the novel coronavirus have remained untraceable in the city, said Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) commissioner Manjunath Prasad in a report by India Today.

"There are 3,338 untraceable patients in the city. The reason is when patient goes for testing, they fill the form and give incomplete home address and wrong phone numbers. It gets reflected in the portal," said the BBMP commissioner.

This alarming information has surfaced following the Karnataka's coronavirus cases being recorded from Bengaluru Urban alone.

On Saturday, Karnataka's single-day coronavirus tally stood at 5,072. Out of the 5,072 fresh cases, 2,036 cases were from Bengaluru Urban alone. The previous single-day spike recorded was on July 23 with 5,030 cases.

Bengaluru Urban district tops the list of positive cases with a total of 43,503 followed by Dakshina Kannada at 4,607 and Kalaburagi with 3,712 infections.

The Karnataka government has been implementing a Sunday shutdown this month to contain the transmission of coronavirus in the state. On July 22, the week-long lockdown in Bengaluru had come to an end.

What is the point blaming the government???
When we the public are not ready to disclose all details while filling the covid forms, how can we blame the govt . Even patients that I see regularly in my clinic, choose to withhold their travel and medication details, and instead decide to put everyone at risk.
We as citizens have a civic responsibility and the government is relying on us to tackle corona. They cant do it on their own. Its the fact. There is absolutely no point blaming the government for this lapse.

Why these Govt machinery is not using technology for cross checking phone number? They have to verify whether phone number is correct or not, even without joining them to Arogya Sethu app, they should not be allowed to go. It is the failure of our Govt machinery to correctely record.
