One killed, 11 Hurt in Mumbai Stampede


Mumbai, March 8 (IANS) One person was killed and at least 11 injured Monday morning in a stampede that broke out during a police recruitment drive at Kalina in north west Mumbai, police said.

Over 10,000 candidates had gathered for the recruitment drive. When the gate was opened, all the candidates rushed in, resulting in the stampede.

The police recruitment drive for 3,200 constable posts opened Monday at five centres across Mumbai. A couple of hours after the incident, order was restored and the recruitment process resumed at the centre.

    Excellent Training before you could join the Police Force.Once some one dies Police will come or restore order, WOW MUMBAI POLICE.How can you recruit these guys when they dont have patience to stand in Q. God Bless Mumbai Police.

    Now who will be held responsible,disrtict adminisrtation or the police department,this is the truth behind because of the over population in india and uneployment.Recent in uttarpradesh same thing is happened,due to the stampede more than 60 people lost their live,for the good work of maharaja.....he was held responsible,every body washed their hands except central govt.

    It took one death and 11 get injured to restore order. This is just example of poor management. Proper arrangements should be made in advance to receive the candidated in proper manner / Q and process their applications / tests/ interview etc. The gate was opened at once ... this will surely lead to rush, indiscipline and even stampede.
