With BJP government completing a year in Karnataka, CM Yediyurappa lists achievements

Bengaluru, Jul 27: Upon completion of one year of governance in the state, Karnataka chief minister (CM) B S Yediyurappa listed the BJP-led government's achievements at an event attended by party leaders on Monday, 27. The speech was streamed live on different social media channels.

He expressed gratitude for the immense support from the people and party workers which helped the BJP government in Karnataka complete one year of governance.

Further, he announced that the remaining term of the BJP government in Karnataka would focus efforts towards the development of the state and its people. The chief minister also maintained that amid the unprecedented times prevailing due to the coronavirus, legislators and party workers have contributed towards the attainment of specific economic goals.

However, he pointed out that all the plans and policies which would have been launched in the past few months were deterred off course due to the pandemic.

The CM spoke about the help availed to the families who suffered majorly during floods. Yediyurappa talked about the support extended by the BJP government where Rs 5 lac each was given in compensation to the affected families.

The CM lauded the ambitious project by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi which is aimed at the upliftment of farmers. As per the PM Kissan Samman Yojana over Rs 6,000 each was provided to farmers. He highlighted that the scheme benefitted over 50 lac farmers. The chief minister also pointed out that his efforts have always been towards safeguard the interests of weavers, farmers, Dalit communities, agriculturists. Yediyurappa also stated that under his governance he aims to provide a respectable life to backward sections of the society. He further announced that the BJP government in Karnataka will work to ensure that the poverty-stricken do not suffer homelessness.

The CM also voiced the effective implementation of the Agricultural Produce Market Committee (APMC) in the state which has been at the forefront in safeguarding the farmers from the exploitation from large retailers.

For the first time in Karnataka, weavers were given Rs 2,000 each for their upliftment, the CM said.

The CM maintained that the state government aims to provide clean drinking water to rural areas and thereby a project costing Rs 8,984 crore towards that direction is underway.

He also spoke about making the dream of installing the Kempegowda statue and a central park a reality. In honour of Bengaluru founder Kempegowda, Karnataka CM had laid the foundation for a central park featuring a 108 ft bronze statue of Kempegowda worth Rs 80 crore in the outskirts of the city near the international airport.

The CM also spoke about the 785 km long road works that have been carried out. For which, the central government funding of Rs 4,762 crore was received.

He extended regards to the Union minister Nitin Gadkari for approving Rs 50,000 crore for 22 Green express highways in Bengaluru.

The CM pointed out that the state capital has been known as a silicon valley which panders to people on a global level. He maintained that the government has already prepared a blueprint for further development of the state capital which would then serve as a role model to other states in the country.

The CM further stated that under the guidance of Dr Sudha Murthy a committee has been formed to develop the tourist places of Kemmanagundi, Jog falls and Nandibetta.

Speaking about the way he carries out his term in the office, Yediyurappa asserted that he does not believe in revenge politics or takes criticism even the ones from the opposition in a stride. He stressed that the state government under his leadership does not believe in discrimination based on religion. The CM attributed the BJP victory in the state to the collective efforts of the all in the state government.

The CM expressed elation at prompt arrival of monsoons which diminished the water shortage as the dams, reservoirs and lakes were filled to its capacity. This also helped in the smooth running of agriculture activities, he said.

Towards the end, the chief minister stated that he would not indulge in any lockdown related announcements and urged everyone to not let coronavirus hold anyone back and rather focus efforts towards developing the state to become a model state for the rest of the country.
