Mangalore: Food Festival of Jain Milan with 55 Items Tickles Taste Buds

A food festival where traditional and popular tasty food preparations were on display, organized by eighth zone of Bhartheeya Jain Milan in the city attracted the community members in large numbers, as they got an opportunity to taste a number of delectable dishes on Sunday March 14 at the Sri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara College hall.
 
The food festival was organized as part of the monthly meeting of the Jain Milan. The members and office bearers of the organization had prepared the items at their homes for the festival. The festival was inaugurated by veteran Veerangini of the organization, Dr Vijayalaxmi Ariga, in the presence of  the patron of the organization, K Suresh Ballal, president, N Ganesh Prasad, secretary, H N Sukumar, joint secretary, Sanath Kumar Jain, and future president of the organization, Shobhankar Ballal.


 
The food items included various items made of rice, including Kattamandige, Pallagundi, Vade, Appa and pickles in eight varieties, Rotis, sweets etc., in addition to spicy dishes. The items which were more than 55 in number, made every one to enjoy their taste, making them reminisce the good old days and the traditional values cherished by their ancestors. The festive season food items made the event very memorable for the participants.
 
Prior to the food festival, Mangala Pravachana was organized by the Association and Samani Dr Malli Pragya, senior disciple of Parm Pujya Acharya Mahapragya and her followers. Dr Malli Pragya presented a discourse on `How to Manage Your Family’.
