Thai woman gang-raped in Haryana hotel, one held

Chandigarh, Aug 9 (IANS): A woman from Thailand was allegedly gang-raped in a hotel in Haryana's Hisar town, police said on Sunday.

Two people, including the hotel's owner, have been booked for the crime that was reported on Thursday night, and one accused has been arrested.

The woman, around 40 years old, had come to Delhi on March 3, and subsequently visited Hisar town, some 300 km from here, with friends. The woman complained that she was drunk when the hotel owner entered her room and raped her.

She said another person also tried to sexually assault her.

The victim, in her complaint to the police, said she was offered help by someone who took her to the police station.

The police said a case has been registered and accused Gulshan, who is the hotel's owner, has been arrested.

Single foreign women should never think of travelling alone in India especially North India or Islamic countries.

foreigners especially should be careful in choosing hotels to stay... they should take note of google reviews, customer reviews in hotel booking sites, friends who have stayed earlier in that hotel etc....there are many hotels all over India who "rent rooms on hourly basis"... it is even more dangerous for guests to "get drunk" in unverified hotels...

Her stay/overstay does not justify rape. Legality and safety are two different issues. Nobody, absolutely nobody has right to rape any person.

Is this the purpose of Gulshan for running that hotel ? To rape women after intoxicating them ? Its very much essential to find out, how many he took advantage of in past, in this way. Those, who were too drunk understand what is going on and went away without reporting it.

What example are we Indians becoming to the world ? Rapist hosts ? I have no hesitation in admitting this about ourselves.
