Mangaluru, Aug 11: The state government had ordered for a magisterial inquiry into the incident of firing during the anti-Citizens Amendment Act (CAA) protests in the city which took place last year. Two people, Nausheen and Jaeel Kudroli, had died during the protests which happened within the city police commissionerate limits. Udupi deputy commissioner (DC) G Jagadeesha, had been appointed as the inquiry officer.

A final opportunity was provided to persons who were either eyewitnesses to the incident or to record their evidences or statement between 11 am and 1 pm on August 11 at the assistant commissioner's court hall at the mini Vidhana Soudha here. But, the deputy commissioner of Udupli district is unable to preside over the said inquiry as Udupi district in-charge minister has undertaken a tour of that district on Tuesday and the DC Jagadeesha has to take part in that programme which is aimed at assessing destruction or losses due to rains.

DC G Jagadeesha is preoccupied and finds it impossible to hold the said inquiry. Therefore, the inquiry has been postponed and information about the next date of inquiry will be informed, said G Jagadeesha in a release.
