'Amar Chitra Katha' to Come Alive on TV



New Delhi, Mar 18 (IANS): "Amar Chitra Katha" comics, which have entertained generations with interesting historical tales, epics and fables, is all set to come alive on television through Cartoon Network.

The 26-episode series, starting March 28, will see some of the stories from the books like "Kumbhakarna", "Mahiravana", "Tales of Arjuna", "Tales of Vishnu", "Abhimanyu", "Drona", "Tales of Shivaji" and "Ghatotkacha" to name a few.

The producers say they have tried their best to do justice to the series.

"We have worked for over a year to develop the series in a way that remains true to the 'Amar Chitra Katha' story telling tradiiton and does justice to the vast sea of stories in our collection. This is the first big step in our journey of reinventing 'Amar Chitra Katha' in animation for television and film," Samir Patil, CEO and founder of ACK Media, said in a press statement.

Cartoon Network spokesperson Monica Tata said: "We are confident 'Amar Chitra Katha' will reignite the emotional bond audiences enjoyed with the stories and give their kids a chance to watch the age old epic in the format they love the most - animation."
