The events held in the fest were as follows:

Strategic development - Four strokes

This is a new event introduced in the verve 2010. This event was basically based on the business life cycle stages i.e., introduction, Growth, maturity and decline on the base of the business plan submitted by the participants. There were two rounds in each of these stages including overnight assignments. The rounds consisted of business plan, prelims, business promotion, business solution, mergers and acquisition and Fire back (repositioning or re-branding of the product/services).

Finance – Fuel

The rounds included Business Quiz, Case study analysis on mergers, a crossword puzzle,a press meet where the participants had to play a role of a prominent personality in the corporate world, a commodity market round where they had to buy and sell commodities as per prevailing market rates and a portfolio building round which was an exercise to construct a custom made portfolio to cater to the risk appetite of various investor segments.

Marketing – Nerve

The rounds in this event consisted of business & logo quiz focusing on core concepts of marketing, the U-KNOW round where the participants had to submit their CV’s and had to sell themselves, Drive to succeed was a real time event at city centre mall Mangalore which was basically a market research, next a rebranding old bollywood movies by inculcating consumer behavior and services marketing concepts. Next creating a complete advertising strategy for a failed brand in the market and the last was a role play relating to brand wars.

Human Resource – Pulse

This included case study analysis on manpower planning, quiz, creative ads on recruitment and its presentation, gathering information on different designations i.e. basically to collect information on job specification, roles and responsibilities which was unique and different because it was a real time exercise for the participants, then identifying HR aspects after viewing short movies, and collective bargaining round where the panel members ( Trade union) and the participants ( HR managers) had to bargain to arrive at an agreement to be signed and various over night assignments were given to the participants.

Business Quiz – Alacrity

This consisted of general aptitude tests, logo and ad identification, connection rounds where three clues given to participants and they had to relate, the highlighting  feature of the event was that the quiz master Mr.Ajith Pai from Mumbai conducted further rounds of Quiz in a brilliant way involving unique tactics of quizzing such as connections, assembling clues and so on.

Bidding – Wild Card

This was an event introduced for the first time in VERVE 2010 in order to help participants who were eliminated in other events. Based on the performance of all the teams, the team members invest on different teams. Here a buying and selling of shares is included and the teams with the maximum cash in hand are declared as the winner.

Best CEO – Valor

It included rounds like Business Quiz, Extempore, over night assignments, Visual resumes to promote themselves, Collage where they had to exhibit their creativity by creating collage on t-shirts provided, video presentations regarding the participants themselves, crisis management and real time event at The Gateway Hotel Mangalore that is to evaluate the candidate’s Dining etiquettes.

One of the rounds also included real time business simulation game which gave the participants an exposure to manage a business virtually. The business simulation in any event is probably used by very few B-Schools in the country in a B-School fest. In addition to this, the participants had to undergo a stress interview.

Therefore all the events held were of prime importance to both organizers and participants to grab the real life applications of management terms and principles.
