Mangalore, Mar 21: Padyana Gopalakrishna (Pa Go) annual award for the journalists for rural reporting was presented to Journalist Harish K Adoor on Sunday, March 21st, for his report published in a daily newspaper focusing on the tribal community of Belthangady Taluk,
The award was presented by Jayaramaraje Aras, Secreatary of Department of Kannada Culture and Information Department of State, on behalf of Pa Go Memorial Committee and Dakshina Kannada Working Journalists’ Union (DKWJU) at a function held at the Press Club in the city.
Speaking on the occasion Jayaramaraje Aras said that the recent trends in media field need to undergo a drastic change with a positive perspective. The trends such as biased reporting and paid news culture are serious threat to the independence of the media in a country like India. He further added that the reporting for good cause and for the development of society will have a positive impact on the society.
Award winner Harish K Adoor expressed happiness in receiving the award. His article title ‘Male bidder hora Jagatthigivaru Ajnatha’ was published in Samyutka Karnataka daily, based on a tribal community which lives in a remote area in Belthangady taluk without availing any governmental benefits.
Harsha, President of DKWJU, Secretary Balepuni and others were present on the occasion.
