Bengaluru, Aug 22: In a sudden development, BJP national chief organizing secretary B L Santhosh has reportedly held 'secret' discussions with home minister Basavaraj Bommai and medical education minister Dr K Sudhakar. This has created curiosity in the political circles of the state.
It is said that Santhosh called both the ministers to 'Jagannath Bhavan' BJP party office and discussed crucial issues.
Party sources said that Santhosh sought information on the law and order situation in the state in the wake of the recent riots that occurred in DJ Halli and KG Halli and also the handling of coronavirus pandemic in the state. It is also being said that the discussion included cabinet expansion or reshuffle and present political scenario in Karnataka.
It is learnt that the main discussion revolved around the alleged role of SDPI in the DJ Halli and KG Halli riots, the alleged high-handedness of Congress corporators, the route in which the BJP is moving politically and the organization of the party in the state.
Prime Minister's office is getting continuous updates on the coronavirus handling in various states of the country. Instructions are being given in this regard from the party end also. That is why, it is said that B L Santhosh called Dr Sudhakar and got the latest information on the coronavirus situation in the state.
Though B L Santhosh has visited the state on earlier occasions, he has never called the ministers to the party office and held discussions. He used to meet the ministers along with the CM in the officials meetings of the party. But this time's meeting with the two ministers in party office has caused curiosity among party cadre as well as the political circle of the state.
BJP leaders of Karnataka said that this visit of Santhosh was mainly to do with the DJ Halli and KG Halli riots and there is no special significance politically. However, the report which B L Santhosh will be giving to the centre will be decisive as he is influential in party cirles at the centre. It is also said that Santhosh might even apprise BJP high command about the style of functioning of BJP ministers of Karnataka.
Giving details of the meeting, home minister Basavaraj Bommai said, "We have discussed about the organization of the party. Information is also given to Santhosh on the law and order situation in the state and also the steps taken on the celebration of Ganesha festival in Karnataka."
Responding to the query by scribes with regards to the details of the meeting, Dr Sudhakar, medical education minister said, "Information with regards to the Covid control in Karnataka was sought. Details are given to Santhosh. He is happy about the steps taken by the government."
The meeting of the new office bearers of state BJP with B L Santhosh will be held on Sunday, August 23. It is also said that state BJP president Nalin Kumar Kateel will participate in the meeting. Nomination for various morchas of the party in the state is also pending. B L Santhosh is also looking into this aspect. It is also said that decision will be taken to give positions to party workers in various corporations and boards.
