Mangalore: Wilfy Rebimbus' Intellectual Works Family Property

Mangalore, Mar 23: "All rights to the works of literature, songs, music, poems and plays of the late Wilfy Rebimbus, shall solely and wholly belong as valuable property of his family. No organization, body, person or individual shall use these works for any commercial reason whatsoever,” said Leslie Rego, close associate of Wilfy Rebimbus’ family and leader of United Youngsters.
Addressing a press conference on behalf of Rebimbus’ family members at the Press Club here on Tuesday March 23, he said "Wilfy's intellectual works like published books or materials, record or release audios, videos or films in any form whatsoever or such works either in part or whole are solely part of Rebimbus’ family and can only be used for competition, social functions, or free shows, but is strictly prohibited to be used in commercial shows or stage shows organized for commercial benefits"
"This is a sincere appeal to all, by the family and legal heirs of the late Wilfy Rebimbus, his wife Meena and children Veena and Vishwas. The entire family is truly touched by the messages and condolences offered to them by thousands of fans and well-wishers of the late Wilfy Rebimbus and shall ever remain grateful to the support and strength provided to them during these days of utmost sorrow and grief. They urge for your support, good wishes and blessings in the months and years to come, in order to continue and carry on with his works and performances, to take Konkani music, art and literature to greater heights and fulfill his mission," he said
250th Wilfy Nite - Dream of Wilfy to be Realized Soon
“United Youngsters is one organization that was close to Wilfy’s heart. He having founded it in the company of a few friends more than 50 years back, nurtured, guided and spirited it with love and pride till his very last. It is through the United Youngsters that Wilfy staged most of his musical shows. United Youngsters remain committed to continue and further the works of its mentor and guide Wilfy Rebimbus, and work with the same zeal and dedication, by leaving no stone unturned, to ensure that the great works of the legend will be passed on to the future generations. The guidance of his family members shall continue to be the stepping stone for every activity to be planned, organized and staged in the future,” he added.
"We also announce that the 250th Wilfy Nite, a milestone that was close to his heart will be staged soon. Till the date of his death, 248 musical nites have been successfully staged to packed audiences, both in India and abroad, including Canada. His unfulfilled dream of staging the 250th Nite will be prime on our agenda and this is to announce that the Rebimbus family along with United Youngsters shall stage the 249th and 250th Wilfy Nite at a date and venue which shall be announced in due course,” said Leslie.
"The Rebimbus family calls upon all to kindly bless them in their future endeavours with a request that no person or body shall use the songs, lyrics and music of the late Wilfy Rebimbus by remixing and recording in any form whatsoever and staging shows and performances with his compositions. We have drawn up a long term plan to preserve, present, publish, perform and release his works in the form of songs, music, poems and plays among others for the pleasure of the community at large so that his precious compositions shall be listened and enjoyed by all over the years. We hereby commit ourselves to continue to perform even more unitedly and bring out his works on stage through performances, in musical albums and in every way possible and strive to keep his memory and works immortal,” said Leslie.
Wilfy Rebimbus' daughter Veena, son Vishwas and United Youngsters office-bearers Dolla Mangalore, Joswin Pinto were present.
