New Delhi, Aug 22: Former President Pranab Mukherjee's health condition continues to remain in a deep coma although his vital parameters are stable, hospital sources revealed on Saturday, August 22.

Doctors attending to the President said that he is being treated for respiratory infection and continues to remain in ventilator support in the Army's Research and Referral Hospital in New Delhi.

"The condition of Hon’ble Shri Pranab Mukherjee remains unchanged this morning. He is deeply comatose and is being treated for respiratory infection. His vital parameters are stable and he continues to be on ventilatory support," the hospital said in a statement.

Mukherjee had tested positive for COVID-19 and developed a lung infection for which he is undergoing treatment.

He has been hospitalised for the past 11 days and is on ventilator support following a brain surgery.

The hospital authorities on Friday August 21 had said that his respiratory parameters had shown slight improvement though he continues to be on ventilator support.
