Bangalore, Mar 23 (Agencies) : Karnataka High Court Rejects Sex Swami's Plea The Karnataka High Court on Tuesday quashed the plea of Swami Nityananda who sought the court's directions for a stay on the cases filed against him following tapes of his alleged sex romp with Tamil actress Ranjitha.
This has blocked his visit to the city as Swami had planned to come back to Bangalore after putting the ongoing investigations on hold.
Dismissing the petition, the court also ordered the Bidadi police to update the court and the government about the progress of the investigations by March 26.
Nitayanada, through his counsel had filed a petition in the Karnataka High Court seeking quashing of all charges filed against him.
In his petition, Nitayanada said that the charges were filed against him with the ulterior motive that too by a third party. He said that the whole episode has been exaggerated and the video footage of a sex romp is a fabricated one.
The Bidadi police have taken up a case against Swami based on the complaint being transferred to them by their Tamil Nadu counterparts. The case has been booked under section 295(a), outraging the religious sentiments, unnatural sexual offense ( 377) and rape (376), 120(b) criminal conspiracy and cheating (420).

BANGALORE, Mar 23 (PTI): Self-styled godman Nityananda Swami, facing allegations of involvement in sleazy activities, has filed a writ petition before the Karnataka High Court seeking quashing of cases filed against him by the Ramanagar district police.
Nityananda, who is at large ever since the video clippings of his alleged sleaze activities involving an actress were telecast by private channels on March two, contended in his petition yesterday that he was innocent.
32-year-old Nityananda, alias Rajasekharan, charged that one of his former discipline and driver Kurup Lenin had conspired to defame him and his Ashram by levelling such allegations.
The whereabouts of Nityananda are a mystery. However, the followers of Nityananda at his Ashram at Bidadi on the city's outskirts claim that he is in Haridwar attending the Kumbh Mela.
The writ is yet to come up for the High Court registry, according to sources in the High Court.
Tamil Nadu police, which had registered cases under various sections, including rape, against Nityananda, transferred them to the police in Ramanagar, as the Ashram falls under it.
Ramanagar police had re-registered the cases against Nityananda.
