IIPM director Arindam Chaudhari arrested for Rs 23 crore tax evasion

Daijiworld Media Network - New Delhi

New Delhi, Aug 23: Director of Indian Institute of Planning and Management (IIPM) Arindam Chaudhuri was arrested by the Central Goods & Services Tax (CGST) South Delhi Commissionerate on Friday August 21 under Section 89 of the Finance Act which enlists penalties for evading payment of service tax.

Accused of tax evasion, Chaudhuri was held liable for an alleged undue claim of Central Value Added Tax (CENVAT) of the service tax credit of about Rs 23 crore.

Gurudas Malik Thakur, who too is a director of IIPM, was also arrested under the same offence and sent to 14 days' judicial custody.

This is not the first time Chaudhuri has faced accusations. Earlier on March 14 this year, he was held for allegedly submitting a forged medical certificate after police asked him to join the probe with respect to a 2016 case. He was subsequently released on bail.

Further back in 2015, Delhi Police registered an FIR against IIPM following the complaint of UGC that the institute was 'misleading, cheating, and fooling' students as it was not recognised by any regulatory body.

I feel sorry for those students who joined his educational institutions. The owners being fraudsters. Even a stupid actor like Shah Rukh Khan was invited to promote the business of this criminal. Sad these kind of people are running educational institutions.

Sharukh Khan a stupid actor? Either you hate or dislike him or donot know how to gauge the talent.

He is the one who started his career from zero with sheer performance and hardworking and became a super star, without any influence. Not only he is a great performer but also a gifted orator. Many big reputed industry leaders admire him for his talent.

You might have a different favorite actor, as each one of us has but calling him stupid is insane.

All actors like Dilip Kumar, Rajendra Kumar, Rajnikanth, Big B, Rajesh Khanna, Vinod Khanna etc started their career from Zero. So let us not be specific of SRK. Also note many of the old actors except Big B never promoted drinks that kills human, like coke pepsi etc. They also never promoted fake education institution. Just with a hit of 4 or 5 movies one does not become a star. Since a decade SRK from Hero he has become Zero.

It is sad to note that entrepreneurs and Investors who employ their own money or borrow money at their own risk , use their own intellectual capacity and also invest on man power are arrested for tax evasion....!!!!!???? And our politicians who never invest any money, never invest in man power and rarely use their own brain (except for making money for themselves) are getting richer just by one term and nobody to question them....!!!!????

As long as AAP is ruling Delhi these things have to stop sooner or later. AAP doesn't garland and promote rapists, murderers, scamsters and fraudsters.
