Bengaluru: Kumaraswamy slams AYUSH official's insistence on Hindi during training prog

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (MS)

Bengaluru, Aug 23: Former CM H D Kumaraswamy has strongly objected to the instructions of Rajesh Kotecha, secretary of AYUSH department, which organized a virtual training programme in which he asked participants unable to speak or understand Hindi to leave the training programme.

In a series of tweets, Kumaraswamy said, "I came to know that Rajesh Kotecha asked non-Hindi speakers to leave the programme and that he does not know to speak proper English. Is this a request about not knowing English or enthusiasm to impose Hindi language?"

In another tweet Kumaraswamy said, "Federal system that is committed to the Constitution has kept this nation united. Every langauge spoken in the country is a part of the federal system. Asking people who do not know to speak Hindi to leave the training programme is a violation of this federal system."

"How much more sacrifice should non-Hindi speaking people, including Kannadigas, do in this country? Union government should immediately take action against AYUSH department secretary Rajesh Kotecha who is obsessed with the greatness of Hindi language. Federal system needs to be respected," Kumaraswamy said in another tweet.

The controversy erupted after Kotecha's purported remark on non-Hindi speaking people during an online conference this week. Several leaders from Tamil Nadu condemned his statement.

AYUSH ministry secretary Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha however has said that the conference of AYUSH trainers was 'gate-crashed by uninvited participants', who were constantly 'nudging' him to speak in English, reported The Print.

"There was an official training programme for master trainers for yoga arranged for state officials from all states. I was using both languages — English and Hindi — in my address. I have always used both languages in my interaction at similar platforms, earlier as well.

"The meeting was gate-crashed by several uninvited participants who were constantly nudging me to speak in English. While I was trying and speaking in both languages, these people who gained illegal access, were constantly interrupting me by repeating ‘Only English, Only English’. I humbly conveyed that I am not fluent in English, but trying to speak in both languages and if they are unable to follow, they can leave," Kotecha was quoted by The Print.

What we have is two or three Indias.

The BIMARU belt which permanently suffers from Hindi and other ills.

The well-educated south, which is 100-years ahead from the BIMARU-belt on many matters.

Then there is north-east in a different world altogether.

But the south must remain firm. By blindly following the BIMARU-belt, the south also can go backwards.

    This is just the beginning.
Those people who migrated from West Asia, called Aryans, with the help of wonderful stories that they wrote, subdued Dravidans and forced their caste system and their Gods on them.
They will force one by one on Dravidans and Shudras. They ask you to goto kashi every year and spend your money there.
They made sure, in their stories, God is born in Uttar Pradesh, Ayodhya, Mathura and Kashi.
They made sure, Vanaras were in the south as well as Asuras.
They made sure everything happened in the North.
These Dravidans blindly followed them, particularly from Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh, whose language is the closest to Sanskrit, the language of Dravidans.
It is only Tamils who opposed these Aryans from the beginning and they still do.

I hope AYUSH ministry secretary Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha and HDK had curiosity to learn and promote languages.
In our new education policy, local language is made medium of instruction till 6th standard; don't know what will happen to common language, viz English or Hindi after few years from now.

Rajesh Kotecha is a Gujartahi. He was awarded Padmashree after Gujarathi became PM. He was appointed as Ayush Secretary in 2017. All these accolades he got because of his state, not capability.

Ayurveda is medicine discipline which is studied in English. But this 57 years old doctor can' speak English which speaks his caliber. We study in English, we need English for employment, we do almost all in English these days; but we say Hindi is our national language which is ridiculous. Imposing education in Hindi will push us to 100 years back. I hope FEKU will understand this.

I don't support most of his views. But this time I support him. It is not right to ask the the people to leave program for not knowing Hindi. Central Govt should arrange people who speak Kannada. Unity in Diversity is the beauty of Kannada. If this incident happened in Tamil Nadu, they would have done state wise protest. Central Govt should treat other people are slaves of Hindi.

    I am proud of Tuluva/Kannadiga

It's quite disappointing, shameful and disloyal to the state and its people on part of CM Yeddy where a training program is held in Bangalore but the CM is not taking up for people who are not conversant with Hindi. It's very sad to see at the end the comman language between all Indians is English a foreign language. If a person can speak fairly good pure Hindi without any Urdu words it's quite understandable and acceptable throughput India.
